Connecticut’s Forests: Memory, Meaning & Stewardship. Panel Discussion with Peggy Bloomer, Martha Willette Lewis, and Maxim Schmidt
This event is held as part of the exhibit Sacred Forest, on display at Trinity on the Green. Sacred Forest features the work of 10 contemporary artists and is a visual meditation on human interaction with our woodland landscapes. This exhibit includes handmade Sculpture, Assemblage, Drawing, Photography, Collage, Embroidery, Book-Arts and Painting in a glorious setting. Sacred Forest celebrates the arboreal nature of the gothic revival church surrounding the artwork, and reflects upon our history, relationships to our ecosystem and the ideas, thoughts and hopes surrounding the power of the forest environment. Participating Artists are: Nick Lamia, Marion Belanger & Martha Willette Lewis, Helen Scholtz, Natalia Petkov, Clymenza Hawkins, Maxim Schmidt, Scott Schuldt, Lesley Finn, Michelle Beaulieu Morgan, and Sarah Stengle. A selection of them will be on hand to show you around and discuss the artistic processes behind the work, ask questions, and mingle in the cool calm of the ambiance. Sacred Forest is curated by Martha Willette Lewis and is co-produced by The Gallery Upstairs at The Institute Library and Trinity on the Green.
