2016 is the third year of the Institute Library Tellabration!, a show of storytelling for adults presented by members of the Library’s storytelling workshop series. This year, we have too many good stories to fit into one event, and will for the first time, present two Tellabrations!
We will open at 7:30pm on Thursday, November 10. Saul Fussiner and Wendy Marans will return from previous successful Tellabrations, and will be joined by newcomers Cindy Lefell, Nina Lesiga, and Dana Savo. They will offer a blend of humor and seriousness focused largely on relations between the generations. We will wander from a backyard in Brooklyn to a beach town in Delaware to a courtyard in Poland and beyond, and will find that a chicken dinner, a bit of graffiti, and other prosaic objects can connect to much larger things.
We will follow this up at 2pm on Saturday, November 12. Sharen McKay and Jezrie Marcano-Courtney will return from previous successful Tellabrations, and will be joined by newcomers Anna Bninski, Tarn Granucci, and Cate Steel. Humor and seriousness will still be in evidence; the stories will take us to an elementary school in Providence, a street in Manhattan, a children’s theater in Virginia, and other places where we find that people may or may not be what they first appear.
Come and enjoy either show or both!
Tellabration! happens in conjunction with over 40 other Tellabrations! during November throughout Connecticut, facilitated by the Connecticut Storytelling Center. See the full schedule of Connecticut November Tellabrations! here.
Tellabration! and the Storytelling Workshops, held each autumn on four Thursday evenings, are sponsored entirely by the Institute Library, Connecticut’s oldest independent circulating library and one of the last remaining membership libraries in North America.
