SUMMARY:"OASIS" in the Gallery Upstairs
DESCRIPTION:Welcome! You are cordially invited to enjoy a summer art exhibit that invites us all to gather & take a breath of fresh air.  Come: refresh\, restore\, regale\, rest\, bask\, bathe\, relax\, commune\, inhale\, meditate\, and discover. Join the caravan\, as we travel to a creative refuge and a summer escape right here in downtown New Haven. \nOases\, or watering holes\, are sacred places where every animal can drink in peace\, and where weary travelers gather to tell stories and relax after their journey. It is the blooming in the desert\, a garden of delights in a cement city. Scarce and special\, they offer tranquility and refreshment. \nAnd of course\, libraries themselves are oases…. \nThis exhibit features original artwork alongside items from the Library’s collection. There will be free events scheduled for making\, gathering\, sharing\, and basking in the peaceful glow of this Oasis.

SUMMARY:In the Gallery Upstairs: Decoys & Mimics
DESCRIPTION:  \nJuly 16-September 22\, 2022\nDecoys  &  Mimics is a group exhibition designed to fake you out this summer with books\, objects\, and images. This open-call exhibition mixes books in our collection with decoys\, mimics\, faux\, imitations\, ersatz\, parodies\, fakes\, forgeries\, deceptions\, and—more positively—works addressing transformation\, morphing\, passing\, changing\, and becoming. It’s a beguiling blend of fantasy\, humor\, and mordant wit addressing the now\, the was\, and the never-was….. \nSummer reading has never been so tricky.
